3 Steps to Your Dreams

Everyone has dreams. But it seems nowadays, dreams are “unreachable”. Reachable by the select few. This is because most people are looking for the easy way to the top, but is not how it works. Yes. There are some people who were at the right place at the right time. But for the rest of us, we have to work our butts off to achieve our dreams. The hardest part of reaching our dreams is knowing the directions to get there. These 4 steps will help you really think through your dreams and create your road map.

  1. Pick a destination and an arrival time
Have ONE main goal that you are striving for with an ETA. Maybe it is opening a business or becoming a platinum album musician. Your destination should not be as vague as “becoming a millionaire”. Well..how will you become a millionaire? What did you to have this kind of income? Being a millionaire is just a perk from achieving your dreams. Really dig down in your core and find what hobbies or activities really bring joy in your life. These pieces of joy will help bring out the REAL destination.

The estimated arrival time is important. This helps put the dream in perspective. It allows the dream to feel real. The time is now. Every action that you do will be to contribute in your journey.

  1. Think of the EXIT you will need to take
What is the exit or step  right before you get to the destination? Maybe to opening a business, you need to gain extensive experience in the industry. Therefore, picking and choosing the correct jobs is imperative. Think of a job as potential of being your past. What kind of past would you like? Management? Advertisment? Finance? Many in all three? Each job is a stepping stone. these jobs or experiences should create a solid foundation. Inturn, this will create a clear road to your destination.

  1. The first direction is...
Maybe to be the PERFECT fit for that stepping stone is a certification or a degree. Keep in mind of those qualifications you may need down the line. The idea is to keep breaking down those steps until you are able to see your path clearly. So clearly, that you know EXACTLY where you are going.

Obviously, there are obstacles in life. And, everything does not go as planned. But it will fall into place. Do NOT aimlessly hoping for dreams to magically come true. We ALL have the POWER to control our destinies and futures.  A dream written down with a DATE becomes a goal. A goal broken down into STEPS becomes a plan. A plan backed by ACTION makes your dreams comes true.
